About Gram & Cup
About Gram & Cup
Gram & Cup is a kitchen math site built for one purpose: giving home bakers and cooks accurate, reliable conversions and calculation tools without the guesswork. Every calculator on this site is ingredient-aware, source-cited, and designed to give a useful result the first time you load it.
Who It's For
If you've ever Googled "how many grams is a cup of flour" or "how to scale a recipe for a different pan size," this site is for you. We build for the practical cook who wants the right number quickly — not a content farm article with the answer buried under five paragraphs of filler.
Gram & Cup is particularly useful for:
- Home bakers converting between cup measurements and gram weights
- Bread bakers working with baker's percentages and sourdough schedules
- Recipe developers scaling recipes for different batch sizes or pan sizes
- Cottage food and home bakery operators calculating recipe costs and setting prices
The Editorial Team
Content on Gram & Cup is researched and produced by The Gram & Cup Kitchen Desk — a team of bakers and food writers who build every calculator, verify every source, and write every guide. We do not publish under invented personas or fabricated credentials. Our methodology is documented and our sources are cited inline.
We use AI assistance as a research and drafting tool; all content is reviewed for accuracy against primary sources before publication. See our editorial policy for full disclosure.
How the Calculators Are Built
Each calculator's math is implemented as pure functions, separately tested before deployment. We use King Arthur Baking's published ingredient weight chart and USDA FoodData Central as primary sources for ingredient densities, and we document the source for every data point. See our methodology page for full details on sources, assumptions, and limitations.
The site is built with Astro and Tailwind CSS, hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Calculators run entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server, no account is required, and results are shareable via URL.
Advertising
Gram & Cup is supported by display advertising. Ad content is determined by the ad network, not by us. Advertiser relationships have no influence on calculator logic, ingredient weights, or editorial content. Our editorial policy has more detail on our independence policy.
