Our Mission

Gram & Cup exists to give practical, accurate kitchen math tools to home bakers and cooks. Every number on this site should be correct, every source should be verifiable, and every calculator should produce a useful result.

Sourcing Standards

We use authoritative primary sources for all data:

  • Ingredient weights: King Arthur Baking's published ingredient weight chart (primary); USDA FoodData Central (secondary and for ingredients not on KA's chart)
  • Yeast conversion ratios: King Arthur Baking and manufacturer guidelines (SAF, Fleischmann's)
  • Sourdough fermentation data: Documented observations from professional bakers, cited in the calculator
  • Formulas and constants: Standard culinary and scientific references, cited inline

We do not invent statistics, fabricate test results, or cite sources we have not verified. We do not publish personal anecdotes as fact.

AI Assistance Disclosure

Content on this site is researched and drafted with AI assistance (specifically, large language models). All AI-generated content is reviewed for accuracy against primary sources before publication. Calculator math is written as testable pure functions and validated against known values before deployment.

We believe AI assistance, used carefully with primary-source verification, can help produce more accurate and thorough content than unassisted writing at the same pace. It does not replace human judgment about accuracy, sourcing, or helpfulness.

Corrections Policy

When an error is identified (by our team or a reader), we:

  1. Verify the correction against the primary source
  2. Update the content within 5 business days
  3. Note the correction at the bottom of the affected page when the error was materially misleading

Advertiser Independence

Gram & Cup earns revenue from display advertising. Advertisers have no influence on:

  • Calculator logic, ingredient weights, or formula constants
  • Which ingredients or tools are featured or linked
  • Article content, recommendations, or sourcing standards

We do not accept payment for product placements, sponsored calculator results, or branded calculator names. If this policy changes, we will disclose it clearly.

This site does not currently host user comments or reviews.

See our privacy policy. Calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser and are not sent to our servers.
